Purva Naturals
Where purity begins at the root.
In 2010, Raja Sankar was living what many would call a perfect life — a high-paying role as Director at Cognizant Technology Solutions in Coimbatore, a loving family, and all the comforts of modern success. But beneath that polished surface was a quiet yearning — a search for purpose, for connection, and for something that truly mattered.
That search led him not to a boardroom, but to an 8-acre coconut farm in Pollachi. With the support of his wife and daughter, Raja stepped into the world of organic farming — not as a business opportunity, but as a calling. From day one, he decided to go fully organic, even though the risks were high. And true to that risk, his coconut yield dropped by 50% in the very first year.
But Raja didn’t give up. Instead, he persisted — nurturing his trees with vermicompost, investing in cows to create natural manure, and slowly watching the land heal. By the third year, the yield bounced back to its original 40,000 coconuts per year — now fully organic and chemical-free.
But the market didn’t care.
Despite the hard work, organic coconuts fetched no premium price at the mandi. Conventional oil mills saw no value in Raja’s commitment to purity. That’s when a new idea was born — if the market won’t recognize the value, why not create it?
Raja turned to making organic coconut oil, but early attempts with local expellers and bullock-driven ghanis fell short. He wasn’t satisfied — not with the output, and certainly not with the ethics of overworking animals for production.
Enter Ravi, a close friend and a brilliant mechanical engineer. Together, they studied oil extraction deeply and designed a slow-moving rotor that would crush oil at a steady pace, never exceeding 50°C, thus retaining maximum nutrition and aroma. This proprietary cold-press technology, combined with FSSAI certification, laid the foundation for the brand Purva Naturals.
With this innovation, Raja and Ravi created four such rotors and slowly expanded production — not through flashy marketing, but through word of mouth and trust. Customers who experienced the quality of unadulterated, cold-pressed coconut oil became loyal advocates.
But Raja didn’t stop with coconuts. Inspired by the philosophy of G. Nammalwar, the pioneer of organic farming in Tamil Nadu, Raja began working with like-minded farmers to source organic sesame and groundnut — ensuring every drop of Purva oil came from trusted, chemical-free sources.
Even as challenges mounted and Sriram Foods (the parent company) struggled with initial losses, Raja never compromised on quality. He left his secure corporate job and devoted himself fully to the vision — to bring back real food, honest farming, and authentic oils to Indian homes.
Today, Purva Naturals produces up to 10,000 liters a month, still using the same gentle, cold-press process that respects both the ingredient and the environment. With growing demand and deep customer loyalty, Purva is now ready to step into eCommerce — making it easier for health-conscious consumers to order oils that are as pure as nature intended.
Behind every bottle of Purva oil is a story — of a man who gave up luxury for purpose, of a farm that found new life, and of a movement that believes in purity, ethics, and sustainability.
Purva Naturals is not just oil.
It is a return to roots.
A tribute to the earth.
A promise of purity — from our family to yours.
